The Land Slides Further

Check this out:

Obama adds symbolic NC victory to White House win

Obama had won North Carolina! It's the first time a democratic Presidential candidate has won the state since Carter won it in 1976. Isn't that crazy? That's crazy! In a good way of course! It makes me proud to be a North Carolinian. So that means Obama has 364 electoral votes to McCain's 162. GOPs, we CRUSHED you!!

To change the subject, Connie has asked for a race report - yes, I will post one later. In a nutshell, it was a tough race but it went well - ran a 4:05 marathon on a very hilly course.

...and in Indiana, a Republican state (birthplace of Dan Quayle), a democratic party candidate hasn't won the electoral votes here since 1944!

In case I haven't told you, Sandra, I love your blog. You and CG discuss critically important issues here and you both do so intelligently, compassionately, respectfully, and passionately.

Looking forward to that race report!

Happy trails,

Connie :)

(Looks like Obama supporters are not necessarily supporters of gay marriage as Prop 8 was successful. Ellen Degeneres, in true form, said she's not giving back the toaster). ;)

...and we all know what happened after Carter won...

Yes, by opposing the Briggs Initiative in CA shortly after taking office, he was the first president I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) to address gay rights, supporting them, to boot.

For a Southern Baptist with a conservative upbringing, he was closer to being a true Christian than the self-righteous Right that spews its hatred to further their own, selfish causes.

Carter was about fairness and equality - and while he turned to his faith as the cornerstone of conflict resolution, he didn't use it as a crutch and walked his talk.

Are you listening Christian Coalition?

Happy trails,

Connie :)
